As someone who opposed the latest version of the senate immigration bill, I say to these new citizens, "Welcome!".</I><BR/><BR/>Hope you sing the same tune when they vote overwhelmingly Democrat because the GOP insisted on sucking up to the "Go home <I>mojado!</I>" crowd.<BR/><BR/>That quote in the paragraph above was uttered at the 1994 SD County GOP convention, to much amusement and merriment. It was uttered to a World War II and Korea veteran of Mexican descent who opposed Proposition 187 on tactical grounds. He went home--to Poway, California. And in 1996, there were over a million additional Hispanic voters in California, all of them Democrat.
