Subway Canaries is another blog by SJ Reidhead, largely focusing on some of the warts on the right.
This is not intended as a secession from the right. I am not at that point yet. But one thing that I am not willing to concede is that conservatism is infalliable, either in doctrine, implementation, or anywhere else. Nor will I remain silent when I think something is wrong or when people do not speak for me.
The fact that there has been a lot of condemnation directed at folks like myself, AJ-Strata, Hedgehog, SJ Reidhead, and The Anchoress - whose only real crime is to have thought through an issue and come to a different conclusion on how to solve an issue or who have decided that certain conduct is not acceptable.
I'm not going to accept that notion. Thoughtcrime is something that needs to remain in George Orwell's 1984, and shouldn't spread to the conservative movement. For that, we're going to always need people to ask, "What is going on here?" Even I, when I call things as I see them, might get something wrong big-time.
So let's keep debate open, but honest. Let's be civil, but truthful. Let's call it as we see it, and let things sort themselves out.

What started it all with me was the fact that I'm sick and tired of what I'm calling RINO Conservatives demanding this litmus test for people who once upon a time considered good Republicans. Something very disturbing has occured within the conservative movement. I'm so conserned about it, I don't even know if I want to be called a 'conservative' anymore. I am conservative, but I am a dedicated Republican who loyal to the Party. I am not intrested in idealogy. The problem with idealogy is there is no loyality to an individual - just to 'thought and theory'. I don't like that.
I also don't like the fact that we have certain Republicans in the House who have determined that other Republican House members do not meet their IDEALOGICAL standards and must be removed from office. When this happens, the GOP is in serious trouble. I am interested in maintaining a GOP majority. I want to WIN elections, not go down on principle. Right now we have about 100 GOP members of the House who are more interested in going down on principle than they are on winning.
I don't know about you, but I see something seriously wrong with that.
I completely disapprove of operatives from one state going in and messing with the politics of another state (unless you happen to be a personal friend of a candidate or elected official). It it tacky. It makes us look like Democrats, and I can't think of a worse insult.
